Look at this picture of legendary film starlet, Jean Harlow. I came across it today doing some work for a client and it literally stopped me dead in my tracks. She looks absolutely, well, I’m not sure what the word is to define how she looks. I’m sure you’ll agree that to call her beautiful hardly does her justice. Which is why I think we should retire the word, at least for today. Challenge yourself to expand your every-shrinking vocabulary. To get you started, here are some “beautiful” alternatives:
alluring; bewitching; captivating; dazzling; enchanting; foxy; glittering; hot; mesmerizing; pulchritudinous; radiant; ravishing; resplendent; showstopping; striking; stunning.
How would you describe how Jean Harlow, the Blonde Bombshell, looks in this picture?

I would say “alluring radiant” (with a touch of Lady GaGa!)
luminous!
Yes!
seductive, sultry, shimmering, sexy, spicy, voluptuous, revealing, sensual, erotic, luxurious, elegant, tempting, sizzling, intense, fresh, gorgeous, cool, titillating, frothy
fun to play with this – thanks!
What a delicious list of words! Thank you Vicky!
I’m going with delectable. Why? My mouth is watering as I write this.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I say next subject should be either Rita Hayworth or Claire Sinclair
smoltry
She looks like enigmatic to me. Sultry also works.
Inviting, enticing, rapturous, magnificent and lovely. All at once, in one photo. Oh, also remarkable and extraordinary.
This is fun!
Dramatic
SmOldering.
