Burn a Bridge, Light a Creative Fire

 

May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way

 

When I let go of a job to write full-time, many people cautioned me not to. They said, “Think of the bridges you’ll be burning!” They were right: I had a great job, and I did run the risk of burning some bridges by leaving it so abruptly. But I did leave it. I raced across the burning bridges and never looked back. As a result, I’ve embarked on the most creative, fulfilling journey of my life with the launch of Write In Color. Sometimes, you have to light a fire to see. To see what the future should and could hold for you. Even if that means burning your past.

Like Kerouac said, “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes “Awww!”

I’m with Jack. Burn your way into a brighter future.
